Hillslope hydrology and stability pdf
Webhillslope stability model to study rain-induced shallow land-slides. This model is based on kinematic wave dynamics of saturated subsurface storage and the infinite slope stability assumption. Here we apply the model to investigate the ef-fect of neglecting the unsaturated storage on the assessment of slope stability in the steady-state hydrology. WebThese observations provide evidence that plant rooting depths covary with CZ structure and hydrology and that the aboveground organization of vegetation by hillslope hydrology is facilitated by belowground root-water relations. These relations are the biophysical link between CZ hydrology and land plants.

WebMar 1, 2024 · The hillslope hydrology and stability analysis carried out in this paper are based on the GEOtop-FS 2.0 modeling framework presented in Fig. 1.The framework integrates: i) the open source three-dimensional fully distributed hydrological model GEOtop 2.0 (Endrizzi et al., 2014), ii) a space and time varying hillslope stability component based …
WebMar 4, 2024 · Hillslope Hydrology and Stability - Ning Lu 2013-01-17 Landslides are caused by a failure of the mechanical balance within hillslopes. This balance is governed by two coupled physical processes: hydrological or subsurface flow and stress. The stabilizing strength of hillslope materials depends on effective stress, which is diminished by rainfall. WebMay 19, 2016 · We aim to assess and quantify the impact of topography on both saturated and unsaturated hillslope hydrology and its effects on shallow slope stability. Three real …
WebThis force balance is controlled by the topography and soil thickness (Montgomery and Dietrich, 1994), which modulate slope, shear stress, and hillslope hydrology. The hydrology in turn controls the saturation state and pore pressure acting within the soil (Montgomery and Dietrich, 1994; Lu and Likos, 2006). WebFeb 6, 2024 · Finally, we show that the applied slope stability methods and steady-state hydrology model based on the relative saturated storage can be used safely to investigate the relation between hillslope ...
WebOct 12, 2007 · For each hillslope type, the steady-state saturated storage corresponding to given recharge rates is computed for three different average bedrock slope angles. On the basis of the infinite slope stability method, the factor of safety (FS) along the hillslopes is determined. Our results demonstrate that in the steep slopes, the least stable ...
WebApr 12, 2024 · The conventional methods of estimating soil water content (SWC) are mainly based on in situ measurements at sampling points and remote sensing measurements over an entire region. In view of these methods, cosmic-ray neutron sensing (CRNS) has received increasing attention in recent years as a mesoscale, noncontact SWC estimation … nbi clearance online registration for ofwWebCitation styles for Hillslope Hydrology and Stability How to cite Hillslope Hydrology and Stability for your reference list or bibliography: select your referencing style from the list below and hit 'copy' to generate a citation.
