This needs more hacking. Also, I'll have to attach the rear diff mount rubbers to the rear cover.

I would think that would be the way to go for durability and gear/LSD choices for a lot less money (Lincoln Mark VII ebay $150, gears $150). The aluminum housing should make it about 10# lighter too.
